1. Informational Purpose Only
All calculators, tools, articles, guides and content published on PayTools.co.za are provided for informational and educational purposes only. Nothing on this website constitutes legal advice, financial advice, tax advice, or any other form of professional advice.
The results produced by our calculators are estimates. They are intended to give you a general indication of your entitlements or obligations — not a definitive legal determination.
2. No Professional Relationship
Use of PayTools.co.za does not create a professional, advisory, or fiduciary relationship between you and PayTools.co.za. We are not your accountant, tax practitioner, financial adviser or legal representative.
For matters involving significant financial decisions, employment disputes, tax submissions, or legal rights, you should consult a qualified and registered professional — such as a registered tax practitioner, labour lawyer, or chartered accountant.
3. Accuracy of Calculations
We make every reasonable effort to ensure that our calculators reflect current South African legislation, including:
- SARS income tax brackets and rebates (updated annually in March)
- UIF contribution rates and earnings ceilings
- BCEA leave entitlements and notice periods
- LRA severance pay formulas
- National minimum wage rates
However, legislation changes frequently. Rates are amended by the National Budget, government gazettes and regulatory notices throughout the year. There may be a period between a legislative change and our tool being updated during which results could be inaccurate.
Always verify critical figures against the official SARS website (sars.gov.za) and the Department of Employment and Labour (labour.gov.za) before taking any action.
4. Individual Circumstances
Our calculators apply standard rules and assume typical employment scenarios. Your actual entitlements or tax liability may differ significantly based on:
- Multiple income sources or irregular income
- Fringe benefits, travel allowances or company cars
- SARS tax directives or special assessments
- Bargaining council or sector-specific agreements
- Prior retirement or retrenchment lump sums received
- Medical aid contributions deducted by employer vs paid personally
- Provisions in your specific employment contract
- Non-standard work arrangements (shift work, casual work, commission only)
5. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by South African law, PayTools.co.za, its owners and contributors shall not be liable for any loss, damage or expense — whether direct, indirect, consequential or incidental — arising from your reliance on information or calculations provided on this website.
This includes, but is not limited to, loss of income, incorrect tax submissions, failed CCMA claims, or employment disputes arising from use of our tools.
6. External Links
PayTools.co.za may contain links to external websites including SARS, the CCMA, the Department of Labour, and other third parties. We are not responsible for the accuracy, completeness or currency of content on those external sites.
7. No Warranty
PayTools.co.za and all its content and tools are provided on an "as is" basis without warranty of any kind — express or implied. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.
8. Updates to This Disclaimer
We may update this disclaimer from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised date. Continued use of the website after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised disclaimer.
9. Contact
If you have questions about this disclaimer or believe a calculation on our site is incorrect, please contact us. We take accuracy seriously and will investigate any reported errors promptly.
10. Our Commitment to Accuracy
While the above limitations are necessary from a legal standpoint, they do not reflect how seriously we take the accuracy of this site. PayTools.co.za is built on the understanding that the people using these tools are making real decisions — about retrenchment packages, payroll costs, tax deductions and employment rights. Getting those numbers wrong has real consequences for real people.
Every formula on this site is verified against primary South African sources — SARS publications, government gazettes, the BCEA, the LRA and the relevant Sectoral Determinations. We do not rely on secondary summaries. We update tools as soon as SARS and the Department of Labour publish amended figures — typically within days of the annual National Budget Speech or ministerial notice.
Our calculation results are also completely independent. They are never adjusted to favour any payroll provider, financial product or commercial partner. What the legislation says is what the calculator returns — nothing more, nothing less.
If you ever find a result that looks wrong, please report it immediately. We treat every error report as a priority and correct verified mistakes as fast as possible. That is the standard we hold ourselves to — because the people using this site deserve nothing less.
