About PayTools.co.za
Why we built this — and why it matters for South African workers and employers.
Our Mission
PayTools.co.za was built around a single frustration: South African workers and employers deserve accurate, fast, free tools that reflect actual South African law — not generic international calculators that ignore SARS tax brackets, UIF caps, BCEA leave rules, and LRA retrenchment formulas.
When someone is retrenched, they should not have to dig through government PDFs and confusing legislation to understand what they are owed. When an employee wants to know their take-home pay, they should get an instant, accurate answer — not an American approximation with a disclaimer.
That is what PayTools.co.za is for.
What We Build
Every tool on PayTools.co.za is built specifically for South African legislation — SARS, the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA), the Labour Relations Act (LRA), and the UIF Act. We do not adapt international calculators. Every formula, rate, threshold and rule is verified against official SARS and Department of Labour sources before it is published.
We update every tool when legislation changes — typically when SARS releases new tax brackets in March each year, when the national minimum wage is adjusted, or when UIF contribution ceilings change.

Our Principles
-
✓
Always free. Every calculator on PayTools.co.za is free to use. No account. No subscription. No paywall.
-
✓
Always private. All calculations happen in your browser. We do not collect, store or transmit any of the numbers you enter.
-
✓
Always SA-specific. Every tool uses current South African legislation — not international approximations.
-
✓
Always explained. We do not just give you a number. We show you the formula, a worked example, and answer the questions people actually ask.
Keeping Tools Accurate
South African tax rates, minimum wages, and UIF contribution limits change every year — usually in March following the National Budget Speech. We review and update every affected tool as soon as SARS and the Department of Labour publish updated figures.
Every tool shows the tax year it is based on. If you ever spot an error or a rate that looks outdated, please contact us — we take accuracy seriously and will investigate immediately.
